A man has been fined by magistrates after he admitted stealing goods worth over £584 from three shops during a visit to Tenby last month.
Sixty-three-year-old Kenneth William Bullock stole items to the value of £110 and £197.27 from Somerfield on two consecutive days, magistrates sitting in the town heard on Tuesday.
He also stole various goods, including electrical items, valued at £274.20 from Woolworths between the same days, May 19 and 20, together with two ornaments and a make-up compact from the Pound Shop.
Prosecuting, Mr. Tim Roberts told the bench that Bullock, of 8 Treharne Road, Cadoxton, Barry, was seen by members of staff stealing from Somerfield on May 20.
The boot of his vehicle was searched and a large amount of goods, including alcohol, electrical items and razors, which were believed to have been stolen, were seized.
Police also searched the caravan where Bullock was staying and recovered a further 19 bottles of alcohol.
Although he had initially denied going to Somerfield, during police interview Bullock accepted he had stolen the items as the "temptation was too great."
He told the police that he did not know why he had stolen the items and was sorry for the trouble he had caused.
Mr. Roberts also told the court that Bullock, who walked into the court room using two crutches, may appear disabled, but he had been seen on the CCTV cameras walking freely carrying heavy bags.
Bullock, who did not have legal representation, told the magistrates that he was "very sorry for the trouble he had caused" and asked to be allowed to come back to Tenby on holidays.
After considering the case, Bullock was fined a total of £300 and ordered to pay costs of £50. A restitution order for the goods was also made by the bench.
