A teenager from Neath, who failed to comply with an anti-social behaviour direction issued by police officers in Saundersfoot, has been told to stay out of trouble for 12 months.

Nineteen-year-old Joshua Robert Williams, of Glannant Place, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to comply with a section 35 direction excluding him from an area for a period of eight hours, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor, Mr. Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told magistrates that the defendant had been out in the village on March 22, and shortly after 1 am, officers on duty in the resort had spoken to Mr. Williams and a friend as they were refusing to move away from the area and causing a disturbance.

"The two had been ejected from the Sands nightclub and were quite drunk when officers spoke to them," explained Mr. Pritchard-Jones.

"They were asked to leave the area and get into taxis that were available.

"They refused and they were issued with section 35 notices, but walked about 100 yards into the nearby car park and were still hanging around.

"They were approached again by officers and became quite abusive in their drunken state," he continued.

Mr. Williams's solicitor, Mr. Mark Layton, told the court that his client was very remorseful for his actions.

"He couldn't understand why he had been ejected from the nightclub, but admits that he behaved poorly when trying to explain this to police officers," he said.

The defendant was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge.
