Sir,

I was dismayed to read that Narberth Town Council wants rid of Councillor Wynne Evans.

After years of campaigning for a footpath to Narberth Bridge, I found that even our MP was unable to achieve anything, despite the clear danger to the lives of me and my neighbours.

Apart from Henry Langen, no town councillor has ever sought me out or shown any great interest in my campaign. When Councillor Evans told me two years ago that he was going to do something about it, I was sceptical. Now a path is being constructed.

It seems there are two types of town councillor: there are those that avoid ruffling any feathers and go to all the meetings and there are those that get on with what needs to be done on behalf of ordinary people. That is to say, there are talkers and there are doers.

I know which sort of councillor has proved of most use to the community of Narberth Bridge. If Wynne Evans did not exist, he would have to be invented.

Narberth Bridge.
