The Christmas Spirit Stableford, lost to the weather in December, was by agreement with the generous sponsors Brian Cowley and Liz Crockford, re-arranged for Saturday, January 10. The weather was kinder this time, and Ken Badham took full advantage in posting a winning score of 40 points. Walter Witts, who scored the only two of the day, and Gerald John finished second and third, respectively, each scoring 38 with Walter taking the runner-up position on countback.
The winter/spring league also started on January 10, although not many bothered putting cards in during the first few days, when there was more or less continual rain.
The Tuesday stableford on January 13 was lost for that reason, but the Tuesday game on January 15 went ahead and was won by the in-form Danny Brown with 39 points. Paul Griffiths was second with 38 and George King and Roger Thompson tied third with 34 each.
