Meurig Evans carried his excellent eclectic form into the stableford competition on Saturday, November 22. He amassed 41 points to finish comfortably ahead of Walter Witts, second with 38. Danny Brown was third on countback with 37, and Gerald John was fourth. Walter and Danny recorded the only twos.

There are still a few cards to be played in the autumn eclectic competition, but at this stage only three golfers in the Tiger division have recorded net scores below 60. Walter Witts and Rob Evans are each on net 57 and, with Meurig Evans on 58, this one looks like going to the wire with a countback result a clear possibility.

With plenty of extra shots to help their scores, no fewer than eight players in the Rabbit division are through the 60 barrier. Richard Davies on 50 and Ken Badham on 53 have pulled away from the rest, who are headed by Gilroy Thomas on 56. Danny Brown, John Smith and Brian Norman are all on 58, and Peter Scourfield and Phillip John are each on 59.

The Tuesday stableford on November 25 was won on countback by Peter Scourfield. His score of 36 was boosted by a strong 21-point back nine which pushed Walter Witts into second place. Trevor Lewis was third with 35.

Walter Witts gained ample compensation by winning the Seniors two days later, this time scoring 37 points. John Cliff and Garfield Price were just behind with 36 apiece.

Nathan Lewis has defeated James Maxwell in the second semi-final of the FH Gilman Junior Matchplay Cup and will meet Ben Price in the final.
