Competitors in the Kitson European Championship Trophy on Saturday, June 16, found the going tough in this annual scratch affair. Caroline Fletcher finished with a gross 88 to take first place ahead of Ian Lawrence, gross 92. Mel Neale, also with 92, was third on countback.
Caroline Fletcher continued her good form a week later, winning the Ladies' division of the Cystic Fibrosis Charity Tournament. Her score of 38 points left her comfortably ahead of Sue Schooter, second with 34, and Liz Crockford, third with 33.
Chris Hicks won the Gents' division of the Cystic Fibrosis with 39 points. Wyn Gill was second with 38, and Mel Beeley third with 37.
Trefloyne Seniors enjoyed a day in the sunshine last week, visiting South Pembs. on Thursday, June 21. In the absence of regular skipper Chic Brown, the old boys really made hay, recording their best result of the season, winning 9.5 - 0.5, with acting captain Graham Wharton and John Cook dropping a half point. The Seniors' next match is at Tenby on Thursday, July 5.
The Laidler Singles cup has now reached the quarter-final stage, for which the pairings are as follows: Carl French v Roger Cryer, Gary Haigh v Alan Brown, Mike Ansell and Allan Jones, Meurig Evans v Ian Lawrence. Of these eight, only Roger Cryer reached the semi-final stage last year. These matches are to be played by July 29.
Nathan Lewis is the man in form for Trefloyne Juniors, taking a first and second place in the last two Sunday competitions. On June 17, Nathan won the Junior Medstab with 28 points, Simon Hilling was second with 31, David Warren third with 32 and Tom Hilling fourth with 33.
On June 24, Luke Laidler prevented Nathan making it a double win, recording an excellent 37 points to finish first in the stableford competition. Nathan Lewis was second with 35, and Adam Thomas third with 33.
