Sir,

With the wintery weather setting in and long dark nights, it is easy to forget the long hot days of our superb summer.

However, the summer has been very much in the minds of Tenby Round Table over the last month as we have had the delightful task of allocating the funds raised by charity.

This year, once again, we were blessed with excellent weather at both our events, and as a result were fortunate, through the generosity of the thousands of people who attended, to be able to raise a substantial amount for charity.

This year we have been able to make generous donations to, among others, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, the RNLI, the Firemen's Benevolent Fund, St. Johns Ambulance, Tenby Ladies Hockey Club, Tenby Boxing Day Swim, Saundersfoot Sailing Club, Broga Rince, Tenby Sea Cadets, Tenby ATC, Tenby Scouts and Guides, Wales Air Ambulance and Round Table Children's Wish.

May I take this opportunity, through your columns, to thank our main sponsor, Kiln Park, and all the other local businesses who made a donation to assist us with our running costs. Their contribution is greatly appreciated.

May I also thank my fellow Tablers and all the individuals and organisations who assisted at both events to ensure their smooth running.

As you will be aware, one of the main beneficiaries from the summer events is our annual Senior Citizens Christmas dinner.

This year's dinner, to be held at the De Valence Pavilion on Wednesday, December 17, will be the 39th annual event and plans are well in hand to ensure that we have all the usual festive fare and fun.

All senior citizens aged 60 and over from within the Tenby electoral boundary are eligible to attend the dinner and invitations will shortly be going out. Transport can also be provided to and from the De Valence if required.

However, while we have a data base of senior citizens, this is only based on people who have attended in the past and Round Table is always conscious of missing someone out.

If you have not attended the dinner in the past and would like to come, if you have any friends who you think would like to come, if you have recently moved to the town and think you are eligible or if you usually attend but have not received your invitation by the end of November, please contact dinner organiser Ian Thomas, at Clarices Toy Shop, Upper Frog Street, Tenby, on 843493.

Please do so as soon as possible as we have to confirm numbers by December 12.

May I thank everyone once again for supporting all that Tenby Round Table do in any way.

Simon Ronowitz,

Chairman,

Tenby Round Table.
