Local postie Charles Clode has so much faith in his colleagues that he set them a little test recently.

Last month, Charles jetted off to Montego Bay, Jamaica, with his fiancée Gina, to get married and decided to send some postcards to his friends, Les Tovey and Stuart Fecci, back in Tenby to say how the trip was going.

However, while he knew both addresses, Charles felt it was an ideal opportunity to see just how good the postal service was, not only in Jamaica, but also back home in the UK.

As a result, he addressed his postcards to 'Les, Tenby, UK' and 'Stuart (Captain Hook), Tenby, UK', before popping them in a postbox on August 19.

And Charles's faith proved justified, because both cards arrived safe and sound within 10 days, Stuart's dropping onto his doormat at St. John's Hill on August 24 and Les's arriving at his home in Rosemount Gardens three days later.

"We were both amazed they got to us," admitted Les. "There was no surname, county or even postcode.

"Added to that was the fact that they arrived at our homes, not at T. P. Hughes where I work or Feccis."

"It certainly shows that the local postmen know who is who," smiled Stuart.

"And it shows that Charles's faith in the postal service was spot on, although as a postman he really should have known better!"
