Sir, It is hard to understand how the problems relating to the Tenby GP surgery have been allowed to continue for so long without a solution being found. I spoke to the chair of the Health Board, Bernardine Rees, again last week, almost nine months after I first raised the matter with her, and was told that the Board is doing its best to address the situation. In the meantime, people cannot get appointments when they need them and are forced to queue outside in the rain early in the morning with no guarantee that they will be seen at all. The National Health Service is based on the premise that we can get to see our GP when we are ill and it is truly disgraceful that the system in Tenby is failing at this very first point of contact with no resolution in sight. The recently appointed chief executive of Hywel Dda Health Board, Steve Moore, needs to explain to the people of Tenby what specific actions he is taking to improve the situation, both to resolve the immediate problem and to find a long-term solution. I have written to Mr Moore this week to this effect having listened to the frustration and anger of patients over many months, who can't understand why their needs are not being met. I will no doubt be accused of electioneering by my opponents, but the current situation is unacceptable and urgent intervention by the Health Board is now required.
