Fundraising ‘character days’ continued in Pembroke on Saturday (July 3) this time with Super Mario Bros visiting the Main Street.
This was the third character day in recent weeks, organised by local Kayleigh Kitts, and the first week raising funds for The Sweet Retreat shop’s chosen charity - LATCH -- the Welsh children’s cancer charity.
“On the previous two character days, so many passing-by suggested we should raise funds, so taking this suggestion on board, LATCH came out on top between everyone supporting Abi and her shop with these character days,” explained Kayleigh.
“Despite the poor weather, we received a great amount of support, with locals and tourists alike coming to visit the Super Mario Bros, with those just walking about kindly choosing to pop their hand in their pockets and donate to this worthy cause.
“We were shocked by how many youngster realised who the Super Mario Bros were. One little man said he’s even having his bedroom done Mario style!
“With the success of fundraising on Saturday, it’s been decided that we will continue with the bucket collections on every character day throughout the summer; and donate one lump sum at end of school holidays,” added Kayleigh.
