After a damp misty trip to Skomer Island last week, still thoroughly enjoyable though, to see the stunning display of bluebells and red campions and the amazing little friendly, photogenic puffins, Saundersfoot Strollers were really pleased to have a glorious sunny morning for their walk this week,
Seventeen of them met up at Lawrenny Quay to complete the lovely three-mile circular walk starting off through the ancient woodlands running parallel with the estuary, returning via the delightful, beautifully kept village of Lawrenny and back to the Quay via more woodlands, where the Strollers were surprised to see several fallen large beech trees and an oak tree tree almost split down the centre, a result of winter storm damage no doubt.
This is always a favourite walk with the Strollers as it offers such fantastic views, wild flowers, gnarled oddly shaped trees, not to mention tasty refreshments at the end at The Tearooms at Lawrenny Quay, where several non-strolling Strollers joined up with the group for a chat and a cuppa.
