The second of this year's 'Frostbite Friendlies' (a mixed event with a draw for partners) was played on Sunday. Despite insufficient men members entering to ensure a 'full' turnout, it didn't seem to hinder some of the lady players!... read on.

We started out in bright sunshine on a beautiful Tenby day. With the course in magnificent condition (and little wind!) there should have been par and birdie chances galore. However, somehow they didn't materialise on the cards.

In fact, you know it's going to be a bad day when you're on the first green in two and come off without a point! Hey hum, John and Annette!

Their bad luck continued when a crow swooped down to carry off their ball from the sixth green. Not an uncommon occurrence recently, but surely preventing them from a two (not! - have you seen their putting recently?).

Other players obviously fared and played considerably better. Second place went to Bev Owen and Nigel Rimell with 21 pts (£12), while the winners with a score of 23 pts were the ladies' team of Irene Gilman and Maura Rimell (£18).

Special thanks go to Danny Owen, Helen Hughes and Gillian Roberts for stepping in at late notice to make up the numbers. Thanks also go to the Pro Shop for managing the entries and performing the bag draws. Also to Steve and his staff for the catering arrangements.

There were three bag draws made. These were won by pairs John Gilman and Annette Flower, Bev Owen and Nigel Rimell and Eve Heyhoe and Richard Reed (£3 each).

The next Frostbite Friendly is scheduled for Sunday, November 14, at 12 noon.
