The countdown is on to Tenby’s iconic Boxing Day Swim, with organisers expecting the biggest-ever turnout for the much-loved festive tradition.

The event – with an All Things Welsh theme this year – is set to bring together swimmers, supporters and the local community for the big splash at 11.30am on Boxing Day.

It’s not too late to buy a £10 ticket to join in the swim – just visit: www.tenbyboxingdayswim.co.uk

The ticket also gives entry to a prize draw which anyone can enter, even if they don’t plan to swim.

The swim is being organised for the 53rd time by the Tenby Sea Swimming Association.

Chairman Sam Skyrme-Blackhall said: “We’re encouraging everyone to be on the beach by 11am for the judging of the fancy dress competition.

“Whether you’re braving the waters or cheering from the shore, the Tenby Boxing Day Swim promises to be more fun and bigger than ever.”

This year will see a special guest [name to be revealed] join swim mascot Dilys the Dragon on the beach to drop the rope and start the dash to the sea.

But before the plunge, DJ Steve Briers will get the crowds warmed up by encouraging them to join in rocking renditions of YMCA and Delilah.

After the swim, there will be medals and soup for all swimmers – many of whom will be then heading into town to sample the swim’s special beer, Chilly Dipper, produced for the event by its main sponsors, Harbwr Brewery Kitchen and Tap.

Dilys the Dragon will also be visiting some of the swim’s other sponsors, including Ronni’z, Tudor Mount and the Cove.

This year, the swim will be supporting the Tenby branch of the RNLI, Tenby Sea Cadets, Tenby’s Old Chapel Community Café and Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity.
