Sir,

I should be most grateful if you would publish this letter in your newspaper. I make this request in an attempt to encourage the Hean Castle Estate to honour its commitment to repair the 'lay by' which leads to Swallowtree Woods, Swallowtree Gardens and the Cwm Gwennol Hotel, and to seek the support of all the local people who find, whether travelling by car or on foot, that avoiding the many and varied pot holes is an unreasonable challenge to young and old alike.

My local councillor has steadfastly pursued this issue for many months and was informed that the repair work would be completed at the end of the holiday season. More recently she was assured 'the work was in hand'.

Appropriately, Lord Donaldson of Lymmington, in a letter to The Times on October 12, wrote:

'If reasonable people reach wholly unfavourable decisions they must have taken account of one or more irrelevant factors, or failed to take account of relevant factors'.

I trust my letter provides some relevant facts that will enable reasonable people to conscientiously seek to get travellers to Swallowtree Woods out of a rut.

Roger Cryer,

Springfield House,

Swallowtree,
