The weather was not too much of a challenge for the Steps2Health walkers on Saturday morning (writes B.S.).
The gales had blown themselves out, but there was still a strong wind to contend with as the group crossed the North Beach after a circular town walk from outside Somerfield led by walks leader Barbara Morris.
Footpaths made muddy and treacherous after the heavy rains were avoided, but there was plenty of water to paddle through as we crossed the harbour to reach the structure of the old lifeboat slip as it reared high above us.
The tide was not quite low enough to reach out and touch the new slipway, but many walkers promised themselves a walk right round Castle Hill at the next very low tide to enjoy the views from this perspective.
It was then our pleasure to round off the morning by joining the Tenby Friends of Tenovus coffee morning in Church House.
Tomorrow (Saturday) we go 'over the water' for a walk commencing at Neyland Marina. Those opting for the longer walk will need to wear suitably strong walking shoes as the route will involve some muddy riverbank paths.
Drivers meet approx. 11 am at marina car park. The minibus will leave from outside Somerfield at 10.30 am. To find out if there are any vacancies, ring Val Coates Rees on 843951.
As many people tell me they enjoy reading about our walks and only wish they could join in, they will be pleased to know that shorter walks lasting half-an-hour will be starting from the South Parade bus stop every Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm. And they will, of course, end with a convivial cuppa in a nearby cafe!
