Most of the Steps2Health walkers will have walked the 'scenic route' round the North Walk, Castle Hill and Esplanade many, many times without realising they were passing six of Tenby's lifeboat houses (writes B.S.).

So Saturday's walk, led by volunteer trained walk leaders, Val Coates and Barbara Morris, may have been over familiar home ground, but I do not think any of the walkers were able to locate all six buildings.

I was very intrigued to learn that Tenby's first lifeboat was housed in the small building that nestles between the side of the quay wall and what were once the Seamen's Rooms. It has a blue door. What a contrast to the brand new lifeboat house with its commanding position off Castle Hill!

Our footsteps quickened near the end of our hour- long walk, spurred on by the tempting aroma of freshly made Welsh cakes outside St. Johns Church, where we joined the coffee morning for Christian Aid Week.

I do not know if our walks leaders will have any more unexpected discoveries for us on tomorrow's (Saturday) walk. But, to find out for yourselves, just meet up with us outside Somerfield for 10.30 am start.

Managed by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, as part of the all-Wales Walking the Way to Health Initiative, the walks are free, fun and friendly.
