Tenby’s main swimming pool will be temporarily closed from Friday (January 16) for a 24hr period, so that maintenance work can be carried out.
The facility situated at Tenby’s Pembrokeshire County Council run leisure centre, will be closed from 8.30 am on Friday to Saturday (January 17) at 10am so work can be carried out on a piece of pipework that feeds the filtration unit.
The rest of the facility will be open (including the learner pool) during this period.
The poor state of Tenby Leisure Centre’s swimming pool has been highlighted frequently in recent years - with fresh calls made last year to look at its longevity, over a year after it was suggested that it is nearing the end of its operational life.
County councillor for the wards of St Florence and St Mary Out Liberty [New Hedges] Cllr Rhys Jordan, has raised concerns about its poor and ‘close to failing’ condition in recent times, highlighting crumbling concrete pillars held together with duct tape, countless missing tiles on the floor, and a leaky roof to let more water in!
