Every year, the Parochial Church Council of St. Mary’s Church, Tenby, support a variety of charities, local, national and international, besides striving to maintain and enhance the beautiful church buildings, and on Sunday, May 7, representatives of some of these charities joined the family Eucharist congregation and were presented with cheques by the team vicar, Rev. Robb Wainwright.
The charities they represented were: Elly’s Flag, Tenby Scout and Guide Hall, Friends of the Community, Pembrokeshire Mind, Crohn’s and Colitis UK, Unique - a charity dealing with rare chromosome disorders, Pembrokeshire Voluntary Transport, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Huntington’s Disease Association and the Air Cadets.
Other charities which have also received cheques include the Sea Cadets, the Salvation Army and Smile Train.
Of course, the church continues to support Christian Aid, as well as caravan holidays for needy families and last week Canon Andrew Grace presented a cheque to Tenby Church in Wales VC Primary School.
This means that charities have received over £12,000 from St. Mary’s this year. We feel that this is an essential part of our mission, and we are grateful that the revenue from the Rectory car-park enables us to help so many worthwhile causes.
