Sunday morning's service was conducted by the Rev. Norman Gilbert and, after the singing of the introit, Holy, Holy, Holy, by the choir, the call to worship was read by Molly of the junior church.

The opening hymn was 'When morning gilds the skies' and after prayers, the Rev. Gilbert talked to the junior church about the parable of the sewing of the seeds. He said that the seed represents the Word of God which sometimes falls on stony ground and at other times on fertile ground. The sewer is teaching the word and the soil is our hearts.

After the young people left for their classes, Mrs. Bron Hurlow read from Matthew, chapter 22, verses 1-14.

Prayers of intercession were said and the hymn 'I need thee every hour, which the Rev. Gilbert said was his favourite, was sung. He then talked about the reading from Matthew. He said that Jesus used everyday happenings in his parables spoken in simple terms so that people could understand them. The marriage of the king's son would have been a big event and the king was rightly angry at the way his invitations had been ignored and his servants abused. The custom would have been for the guests to be given new robes for the feast, but one man had refused his and this, again, made the king angry and he was thrown out. He went on to say that our faith in what Jesus has done is our wedding garment and to turn away from it is to reject the Lord.

After the final hymn, the benediction was sung by the choir.

Many thanks go to the Rev. Gilbert for leading our worship and thanks also to those who took part in the service, including Mrs. Sheila Noot on the organ.

This Sunday's worship will be at 11 am and will be conducted by the Rev. Sheila Pollard. Everyone is welcome.
