The village of Kilgetty was brought to a standstill on Saturday evening when the biggest crowd ever gathered to watch the residents of St. Mary's Place switch on their spectacular display of Christmas illuminations.
Twelve-year-old cancer sufferer, Daniel Burrows, of Tenby, who is one of this year's beneficiaries, sounded the horn to signal the switch-on, which was met by huge cheers from the 2,000 spectators.
Led by Peter and Audrey Thomas, whose festively-decorated house topped a HTV poll last year for the best in Wales, the residents have been working for weeks to turn their homes into winter wonderlands.
And after just two nights, the festive exhibition had already raised nearly £1,000 for charity. Hoping to beat last year's sum of £9,000, this year the proceeds will be shared between Daniel's Trust Fund, the Special Needs Assessment Playgroup at Withybush Hospital and the South Pembrokeshire Fund for Sick Children.
Among the attractions at the lighting-up ceremony were Father Christmas, a showman's engine brought along by Richard Scourfield, of Bartletts Engineering, and a 20-foot high model of Harry Potter's friend, Hagrid.
As well as many new lights this year, another addition is a Santa's Postbox, where so far over 400 children have posted their letters, and thanks to K. P. Thomas and Son, will be receiving a reply in the post.
So please children, remember to put your full address on the letter.
