Fourteen competitors from South Pembrokeshire Hunt Pony Club recently took part in the Area triathlon in Carmarthen. The event was made up of shooting, swimming and running and attracted just under 100 competitors from across South Wales. Tiffany Roach and Emily Pellington were competing in the senior girls. Both girls recorded some good scores and Tiff came sixth overall and Emily fourth. The junior girls team was made up of Alice Simon, Bea Bea Meyrick, Isabell Meyrick and Harriet Morgan. All the girls did well with Alice coming first in the swim and fourth overall. Gwilli Owens was taking part in his first triathlon of the winter in the junior boys. Gwilli did well to win the shoot and come fifth overall. Ele Scourfield, Anna Morgan and Abigail Meyrick competed in the minimus girls. All three girls recorded some good scores with Ele coming sixth overall and Anna fourth. Ele won the shooting with a superb maximum score of 1,000. This was made up of 10 perfect bullseyes from 10 shots and was the second time in a week that Ele had scored 1,000 in a competition. As a result of this outstanding performance the committee awarded Ele a prize for her achievements and she also received a trophy from shooting coach John. Competing in the minimus boys event were Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, Edward Andrews, Fred Meyrick, Charlie Andrews and Lorcan Williams. All the boys did well with Jack winning the shoot and coming first overall, Edward coming fifth and Fred sixth. This was the final triathlon of the winter series and therefore prizes were given to the series winners of each class. Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard did superbly winning every month to come first overall in the minimus boys series. Well done Jack. The triathlons have grown in popularity over the last couple of years especially with the younger members. It was therefore pleasing that the branch were in the series placings in all the classes entered this year. Emily Pellington and Alice Simon both did extremely well to come second in the senior and junior girls respectively, Anna Morgan and Ele Scourfield came fourth and fifth in the minimus girls, whilst Fred Meyrick and Edward Andrews came fourth and sixth in the minimus boys.
