The Soroptimist International club of Tenby and District held their handover dinner at Heywood Mount Hotel on Tuesday, April 15. Incoming president Dilys Jenkinson was presented with her chain of office by Dr. Anne Kelly, the outgoing president, who in return received her past president's badge from Dilys. The vice-president is Jenny Deverson, who received her chain of office from president Dilys. Anne had had a very successful but hardworking year for service and raising money for local and international charities. During the evening, a cheque for £2,150 was presented by Anne to Maggie Hughes, fund-raising manager for Cancer Research Wales, to help further in their research into possible causes and prevention of ovarian and prostate cancer, for they are already world leaders in this field. Further donations were sent or given to Greenhill School Orchestra, Friends of the Community, In- Tune Youth Choir, the Indian Orphanage which has been supported by the club for over 25 years, Girl Guides Association, Water Aid, Lassa Fever and soldiers' parcels. Next meeting of the club will be a supper and business meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at 7.30 pm, in their new venue, the Heywood Mount Hotel.
