Sir, In response to the recent article regarding Saundersfoot Coal Office, I put forward the following suggestions based on the retention of the existing building. I would like to see the development of the building for the future benefit and employment potential of the younger generations and directed towards traditional skills. Naturally, financing such projects will be uppermost in the current economic climate and I believe that some of the developments outlined below would attract funding. 1. Develop part of the building as a Marine Aquaculture Training School to provide both theoretical and practical training. Carmarthen Bay has great potential for marine aquaculture both for fish and shellfish. Saundersfoot fishermen currently land large quantities of shellfish that are sold on the open market. This activity will eventually peter out as the stocks are depleted. Modern aquaculture will sustain this industry and employment. 2. Install a small research laboratory to monitor the health of the bay and assist in the development of the aquaculture industry. 3. Install an ultra-violet shellfish purification and packing plant for the purification and marketing of mussels, oysters and other shellfish. This would not take up much space, but might be located elsewhere on the harbour, maybe included in the other proposed developments for the harbour. 4. Develop a Dive Centre to include training, leisure and aquaculture activities.

Cyril Morris, Saundersfoot.
