Folly Farm yesterday (Thursday) celebrated its 20th birthday and to mark the occasion the directors of the popular attraction posed for a picture alongside a cake creatively crafted for the celebrations by Folly Farm's food and beverage manager, Jonathan Balfour.  The Folly Farm themed cake depicts in icing some of the fun that can be had on a day out at the attraction and will be on display in the reception area today before being cut and handed out to staff. The cake took six hours to complete and was crafted by Jonathan in between him running Folly Farm's eight catering outlets and managing his 55 staff. Twelve kilos of fruit and six kilos of icing were used in the 75cm by 60cm creation and it should yield close to 500 slices! Chris Ebsworth, managing director at Folly Farm, said of Jonathan's cake-making skills: "Jonathan has done a great job crafting a fitting tribute to our 20 years in business. The cake includes all the ingredients of a fun-filled day out at Folly Farm, with a Helter Skelter, marzipan animals and a little bit of sparkle." Jonathan added: "It was great fun to make our birthday cake and at 39.1 kilos it was no mean feat setting up the display in reception! I'd like to say a huge thank you to senior supervisor Cheryl Linehan who took charge of our food outlets whilst I was crafting pigs and fair rides from marzipan!"  Folly Farm is open every day from 10 am until 5.30 pm until September 30. Opening times vary after this date, so please check before you visit.
