Song and dance will fill the Tenby Leisure Centre on the Whitsun Holiday Saturday when the 'Sights and Sounds of Wales' spectacular gets underway as part of Texaco's Charity Weekend of Family Entertainment.

The associate conductor of the South Wales Male Choir, John Samuel takes up the baton for the first time in Tenby with over 100 choristers from Wales' biggest male choir. A prolific and talented arranger, Samuel has recently been appointed musical director of Pendyrus Male Choir, but is no stranger to Cor Meibion De Cymru, having accompanied the choir on last year's highly successful Millennium Canada Tour.

"John's love of more modern as well as traditional choral music is so well suited for this spectacular event, and he really enjoys making music in the company of a variety of performers," said choir chairman and concert producer Phil Howells.

"With Steynton Youth Band, the talented dancers of Neyland's Star Dance, the virtuosity of the Texaco Young Musician of Wales 2001 Competition Bronze Medalist pianist Samantha Ward, drummers from 157 Logistic Support Regiment, plus the big sound of the choir, this is going to be quite a night," he added.

Making a welcome return to his home county of Pembrokeshire is BBC Wales news presenter Jamie Owen, as master of ceremonies.

"It's going to be a real pleasure working with all these talented artistes, especially as the chosen charities are the choir and the Lady Taverners who do so much marvellous work raising funds for disabled children. I'm looking forward to meeting and interviewing the presidents of both the Lords and Ladies Taverners, actor Robert Powell and cricketer Rachael Hehoe-Flint on the night," he said.

A number of other celebrity guests will also enjoy the show, including snooker stars who take part in the Texaco Snooker Challenge on Sunday and Monday nights. Special arrangements are in hand for eager autograph hunters to get their albums signed up.
