Tenby councillors have expressed concern over work which appears to have already been carried out on one of the town centre's shop fronts - despite being notified by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park that a decision on the application had been deferred.

The application submitted by the Yorkshire Building Society sought approval for plans for a replacement shop front at Tower House, Tudor Square.

A decision was deferred by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's development management committee last week, with local county councillor and committee member, Michael Williams, raising his objections to the proposed plan.

He claimed that the design detracted from the town centre and bore no relation to the townscape of Tenby.

Town councillors had also previously objected to the amended plans, feeling that the proposed design would be 'out of keeping with the area'. However, when discussing the issue at last week's meeting of the council, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane suggested that they inform National Park officers that the work to the shop-front already appeared to have taken place.

Councillors agreed to notify the authority over the matter.
