Natural Resources Wales has given an update on a sewage pollution incident in Lydstep, near Tenby - that has led to warnings advising members of the public against entering the water.

A spokesperson for NRW shared today (Wednesday, May 6): “We are aware of an incident involving a damaged privately owned sewerage system discharging sewage on to Lydstep beach, potentially temporarily impacting the quality of bathing water.

“We are working closely with Pembrokeshire County Council, who have been informed and are putting appropriate signage in place to advise the public against entering the water.

“The site owners are currently undertaking investigations to locate the source of the problem and carry out repairs.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and work with partners to ensure the issue is resolved as quickly as possible and risks to the environment and the public are minimised.
