October will be a busier than usual month for some staff members of Saundersfoot Community School. Inspired by the recent Ironman event, a number of ladies at the school will be running, swimming and cycling the same gruelling distances during October.
The Bethalon will start on October 6 by the ladies running the Cardiff Half Marathon, with the swim taking place the following weekend. The final part, the cycle ride, will end at St. Brides Hotel at approximately 1 pm on October 20.
The 'Ironladies' will be raising money for local girl Beth, who has recently been diagnosed with the rare and incurable genetic condition Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This condition affects how the body deals with collagen, making every day for Beth a painful and challenging one.
The money raised will be donated to the EDS charity and go towards the purchase of an electronic adjustable orthopaedic bed for Beth. Everyone taking part is hoping to raise the awareness of EDS and help make this invisible condition visible. Donations can be made through the Just giving page Bethalon or text JustTextGiving code, BTUY71.
