Pupils and staff at Tenby Junior Community School were delighted to welcome a special guest to their assembly last Thursday.

He was Mr. Phil Thomas, who is the regional appeals officer for the Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, at Sully, in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Mr. Thomas talked about the wonderful establishment, known as 'The Happy Place' to all of the children and their families, who take advantage of the amazing facilities at Ty Hafan.

He spoke about the individual rooms, the beautiful gardens, the dedicated nurses and doctors and all the special activities which are to be found at this very exceptional place.

All of the children and the staff were amazed to hear about Ty Hafan and were so thrilled that this is where the money which was collected prior to Christmas will be used. The sum of £650 had been collected from raffles, the carol service collection and the sale of pin badges. What a wonderful way to show the concern everyone feels for children who do not have the good health and wellbeing which they enjoy themselves.

Mr. Thomas is seen receiving the cheque from school ambassadors, Georgia Poole and Nicholas Allen, along with headteacher, Mrs. Jan Llewellyn, and PSE co-ordinator, Mrs. Gaynor Day.

The school would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the excellent amount which was donated to Ty Hafan.
