Probus Club

The Saundersfoot Probus Club held their regular fortnightly meeting on Wednesday, July 11. The speaker due to talk at the meeting was unfortunately not available, so at the last minute, the president, Mr. James Morris, volunteered to fill in. The talk was based on digital photography, starting with the early experiments carried out in 1666 (same year as the great fire of London) by Isaac Newton when he split light up into the seven basic colours as seen in the rainbow; how the digital camera works and its similarity to human sight, how the various controls affect the exposure and how best to take pictures in low lighting conditions or where the subject is moving - finally an insight into printers and their method of producing colour control. A lot of ground was covered in the talk and judging by the many questions raised in the summary, a large number of issues had been stimulated. The Saundersfoot club continues to provide a forum for retired or semi-retired Saundersfoot and district people to discuss topics of mutual interest. Meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday at 10.30 each month in a convivial atmosphere at the Sports Club, Regency Hall, Saundersfoot. The club's activities include outings to places of interest, lunches when wives and friends are invited, together with talks from outside speakers with expertise in their chosen subjects. The club fees are only £10 a year and a warm reception awaits any new member who would like to put that little extra into their social life. Just ring James Morris on 01834 842234 for information and a friendly chat.

'THE SAUNDERFOOT EXPERIENCE'

Come and help define 'The Saundersfoot Experience' - this is the message to local people being invited to attend a public meeting next Wednesday. The concept is part of the community vision for the future and appears in a new community Action Plan, which will be discussed that evening. Saundersfoot has a long tradition of helping itself and has achieved many proposals contained in earlier action plans. Over the past few months, local people have participated in community workshops initiated by the Saundersfoot Forum and facilitated by PLANED. People of all ages and interests contributed their ideas and proposals for the new Action Plan. The public meeting on July 18 at 7.30 pm in the Regency Hall will give the wider community an opportunity to comment and contribute to the document. The draft Action Plans have been circulated around the village and copies are also available in the Post Office and Spar. For more information or a copy of the draft Action Plan, please contact Moishe Bagel at PLANED on (01834) 862115.
