LADIES'

CAPTAIN'S DAY

This takes place next Tuesday, September 15, when captain of the ladies, Diane Rigden, will entertain bowlers and friends for a fun day.

Commencing at 1 pm, there will be a short tournament, followed by a meal and entertainment.

Hope you've got your names down girls or you'll miss out!

RE-ARRANGED FIXTURES

The gentlemen of the club have two re-arranged home games to play and the dates of these have now been agreed by fixture secretary Stew Howe.

St. Issell's play Mariners of Pembroke Dock on Monday at 2 pm, to complete their Division Two programme, while Saundersfoot will play Milford Haven in a Division One encounter on Sunday, September 20, at 10 am.

FINALS DAY

The club tournament finals take place this weekend. The weather looks set to be good (please let the forecasters be right for once!) and the 17 finals commence tomorrow (Saturday) morning and will continue over two days, finishing Sunday evening, with food available.

The programme timings have still to be arranged and participants should check the club notice-board for details.

A presentation of trophies evening will take place in early October.

CLOSURE

OF GREEN

The outdoor season will officially end on Sunday, September 20, after the afternoon friendly against Bohemians.

On the following day, work will commence putting the green to bed for the winter and any gentlemen able to help are asked to be at the green at 9 am.

NOMINATIONS

Nominations for club officials for 2010 are now being requested.

The appropriate list is to be found on the club noticeboard, which will be taken down 14 days prior to the annual general meeting, due at the end of November.

DENNIS REED

Dennis Reed, of Trevayne in New Hedges, has recently been hospitalised.

A popular and much-liked member of Saundersfoot Bowling Club and the St. Issell's team, he is wished a speedy recovery by all his friends of the flat green fraternity.

WELSH SEMI-FINALS

Saundersfoot was represented at the Welsh Women's Bowling Association semi-finals on Friday at Lampeter by Viv Edwards.

Viv was in the four-wood singles and played against Carol Difford, of Gilfach. Despite a good fight, Viv was beaten by Carol, who went on to win the title.

Commiserations also to Ceris Hewlings and John Roberts, who were beaten in the semi-finals of the Welsh mixed pairs on Sunday at Llandrindod Wells. They were beaten by the eventual winners, Wendy Price (Llandrindod Wells) and Robert Weale (Presteigne).

WELL DONE

Well done to Ceris Hewlings, who has retained her place in the Welsh team for the Home International series in Worthing next June.
