Supporting locally organised community events such as the recent ‘Big Bang Weekend’ for Saundersfoot, remains an important way of ensuring continued investment back into the seaside village and its future initiatives - a local county councillor has highlighted.
“The Big Bang Weekend was another outstanding success during the half-term week. Although Friday evening was affected by poor weather, Saturday’s main event enjoyed dry conditions and attracted record crowds of an estimated ten thousand visitors to the village for the fireworks display,” said Cllr Chris Williams of the occasion organised by the ‘Love Saundersfoot’ events team.
“The organisers deserve great credit for staging such an excellent event and for drawing so many families into the area.
“Saundersfoot village, once again proved to be an ideal venue, and the lively atmosphere throughout half-term contributed to the sense of a vibrant and welcoming community.
“We heard that a number of businesses did very well indeed and judging by the happy, smiling faces, we reckon residents and visitors had a blast too.
“And barely a week later, the Halloween Trail and Disco sold out - all 100 tickets to deliver yet more happy faces and more buzz!
Cllr Williams said that such organised events couldn’t be run without volunteers and it was pleasing to see so many local residents coming forward to support community and charity events.
“Saundersfoot continues to work hard throughout the year to host and support a wide range of community-led events, which in turn supports many independent businesses,” he continued.
“It is important to recognise and appreciate the dedication of those who help attract visitors and strengthen the local economy.
“Thanks again to Phil Odley, Rhodri Lewis and the ‘Love Saundersfoot’ team for delivering such a successful and enjoyable event, with plans already underway for next year’s celebration, with the local residents providing overwhelmingly positive feedback.”
