Local violinist, Jamie Hutchinson, has recently been presented with a cheque from the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot to help with the cost of a special course in Spain.

Jamie is a former pupil of Greenhill School, where she played in the school orchestra, under the skilful tutelage of Paul Rapi.

During her time at Greenhill, she led not only the school orchestra, but also played with and led both the Pembrokeshire and Three Counties Youth Orchestras. Jamie also won Rotary Young Musician awards.

After leaving Greenhill, Jamie won a place at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where she has completed three years of a four-year course.

The cheque presented by president Maurice Caine was to help with the cost of a very special week at the International Course of Musical Improvement in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, under the famous violin teacher, Yossi Zivoni.

Her course was very intensive and students came from England, Spain, Portugal, Austria USA, plus of course Jamie from Pembrokeshire (not just Wales!) Jamie paid tribute to her schooling in Pembrokeshire in general and to Greenhill and Paul Rapi in particular, and after telling of her experiences at college in Manchester, and Oviedo, genuinely delighted members with what was, for them, an all too brief recital.
