Who's that with Tenby adventurer Rosie Swale Pope peeping out from the back of her home on wheels Icebird?
It's one of the owls being looked after by Maria Evans (seen standing left), of Tinkers Hill, Amroth.
Rosie is getting set to lace up her running shoes for her latest challenge to raise awareness of Tinker's Hill Bird of Prey and Swan Rescue Centre, a charitable trust that attends to the rescue and rehabilitation and re-release of injured birds of prey and swans, many of which have suffered their injuries at the hands of people's actions.
The Amroth sanctuary, which is always full of birds, is run on an entirely voluntary basis and to help with the accommodation of these birds, the Waun Wyllt Inn, Llanelli, has offered to set-up a second centre for the birds at Five Roads, Llanelli, which will be a valuable satellite addition to Tinker's Hill's activities.
In an attempt to raise awareness and to sell raffle tickets for the Tinker's Hill Trust, Rosie has agreed to run with her trailer in tow from Cross Hands to the Waun Wyllt Inn, Five Roads, on Monday, August 30, where she will open the new sanctuary and give a talk on her adventures.
Icebird is currently on display at Leekes, Cross Hands, where Rosie and Maria, and no doubt a bird of prey or two in hand, will perform a PA tomorrow (Saturday), at around 10.30 am.
Rosie will give a talk on her many worldwide adventures, answer any questions from the customers and undertake some book signings.
On August 30, Rosie and the gang will return to Leekes, provide a second PA and then embark on the run to Five Roads.
Upon arriving at the Waun Wyllt Inn, Five Roads, Llanelli, Rosie will officially open the new bird of prey sanctuary for the Tinker's Hill Trust, at 2 pm, and give a further talk on her worldwide activities and adventures.
There will be children's entertainment, funfair rides and a wonderful barbecue.
This will be a fun day for all the family to enjoy and a chance to meet Rosie in person, with entry free.
The raffle will be drawn later in the year, with a prize of Rosie's very own racing bike, called Freedom, which she was given eight years ago and is now looking forward to passing on to a lucky winner. Other prizes generously donated from local businesses in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire include hotel accommodation, dinner vouchers and much more.
Said Rosie: "This is a new direction for me, but one I have been seeking for a longtime ever since the wild birds were my only companions for thousands of miles in forests and mountains in Siberia and Alaska.
"As Maria says, 'we surely need them and they need us'. Maria is a real unsung hero, along with family and fabulous volunteers who work so hard. I am so very proud to be able to help the Amroth Bird of Prey and Swan Rescue even in a small way and indeed in every way that I can."
