Following the recent start on the A40 Penblewin to Slebech Park Improvement project for The Welsh Assembly Government, the Costain site team have started fund-raising for local groups in the community.
Joined by the all the partners involved in the scheme, a weekly bonus ball competition organised by Bev Hanniford and Phil Baker, raises a monthly donation which everybody agreed should be donated to local groups.
A local resident suggested the first recipient could be St. Aidan VA School, Wiston, where most Robeston Wathen children attend.
Pictured is Mrs. Tracey Thomas, an active fund-raiser for the school, and her two sons, Jamie (Year 4) and Rhys (Year 2), with Mr. Mark Young, Costain project manager, and other team members.
Tracey commented that the school was actively raising money for new computers and the donation was a great addition to the fund-raising.
Due to previous commitments, the school head, Mrs. Rayner, was unable to attend the presentation, but Costain public liaison officer, Phil Baker, has undertaken to visit the school to talk to the children about the project and safety on construction sites.
Bev Hanniford (engineering assistant) said that she was delighted that Robeston Wathen children would benefit from the fund-raising and hoped that other local groups could be helped over the duration of the contract.
