Tenby's Deputy Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths could soon have a new outfit to wear at official duties. At Tuesday evening's meeting of the town council, Clr. Griffiths asked what had become of the robes that councillor's in his position used to wear.

Clr. Griffiths had conducted research on the post, which dates back to the year 1530, and had come across photographs of town Mayors and their Deputies, both wearing robes.

With members unsure of what had become of the gowns, Clr. Griffiths offered to purchase new robes and donate them to the council. The town clerk told members that he would make enquiries as to who could make the robes.

Meanwhile, the Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett, also revealed that some repair work would have to be carried out on his robes, as some 'wear and tear' had set in and he felt that the problem should be addressed before the material deteriorated any further.
