Road safety concerns have been raised after a number of ‘near misses’ were reported regarding vehicles misusing a mini-roundabout on one of the main routes into Tenby town, with cars travelling at dangerous speeds up the hill.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s highways development control officer Stephen Benger has now been asked to look at the roundabout on The Green after complaints were reported to one of the town’s county councilors, stating that there was ‘an accident waiting to happen’ due to vehicles speeding around the wrong side of the road structure.
Tenby’s county councillor for the North ward, Cllr Michael Williams informed PCC’s officer: “I’m aware of a number of complaints regarding the safe operation of this roundabout, in particular vehicles travelling from Marsh Road up Greenhill Road avoiding going over, or driving on the the wrong side of the roundabout at considerable speed and accelerating up the hill!
“Please could you have a look at this issue. I'm not sure if a solid bollard might be part of a solution, but I have witnessed myself, a number of near misses on the junction,” he added.
