Pembrokeshire County Council has been resurfacing the road at Bells Corner, Tenby.

The work is needed to restore the ride-quality of the carriageway and the shape of the footway, while at the same time improving the structural strength and life expectancy of this section of highway.

The road works, which have seen large tailbacks of traffic for motorists travelling to and from Tenby, should be completed this week and it is anticipated that the footway reconstruction will be finished by early November.

When asked if the work was being carried out in answer to calls for road safety improvements to be carried out at the location which has become and accident blackspot, spokeswoman Ceri Jones said:

"The council is not aware of a significant accident history at this site. Our databases show a few reportable accidents at this location and these do not appear to be attributable to any defect in particular. Damage only incidents are not recorded on this system."
