The fund-raising committee of the RNLI in Tenby wishes to thank the people of Tenby and their summer visitors for their generosity during Flag Week, August 2-7 this year. They raised a staggering £3,222.37. Thanks go to Mr. Simon Hart, of Somerfield, for allowing the committee to collect outside the store. They raised £919.61 here, breaking yet another record. Father Daniel van Santvoort, the Abbot of Caldey, allowed them to collect on the island again and in spite of missing one day due to bad weather, they again broke a record and collected £1,248.13. Thanks go to the Abbot, to the boatmen who ferry members across, and to Nicky who buses them into the village. A special thank you goes to Suzanne Bolton who keeps their gear in the Perfume Shop and also arranged the Flag Day collection there. Ben Childs helps out with the table and chairs and the islanders are kind and very welcoming. Lastly, the fund-raising committee wishes to say how much they appreciate the volunteers who do the actual collecting - without them, it just wouldn't happen! The individual collections were as follows: Hazelbrook Caravans (Mrs. P. Sole) £32.60; Well Park Caravans (Mr. Nash) £16.44; Mrs. Janet Thomas £88.41; Mrs. Joan Thomas £100.19; Mrs. J. Davies £14.40; Mr. David Rees £85.09; Mrs. Sue James £69.61; Miss Doreen Mortimer £84.03; Mrs. K. Apps £11.18; Mrs. Doreen Emmerson and Mrs. Jean Shipley £9.05; Mrs. Jane Brace £167.44; Mr. Terry Lloyd Davies £55.98 (these latter two collected outside the Mini Mart in New Hedges, courtesy of Matt and Ruth Goldwait, and thanks go to them); Mrs Joyce Mawdsley £271.75 - Joyce collected in the Buccaneer, the Lifeboat, the Hope and Anchor, Tenby House and the Three Mariners, and thanks go to them for allowing her to do so. The committee had their usual souvenir stall in Tudor Square and sold goods there to the worth of £248.15. A further £48.46 was put in the collecting box on the stall. The RNLI is completely dependent on the generosity of the public to run the lifeboat service. Again, Tenby and its visitors have shown how much they appreciate the service given by the lifeboatmen. Thanks go to all.
