A man with a proud family history in lifeboat service, has been appointed the new full-time Coxswain at Tenby RNLI.
A spokesperson for the station said: “We are excited to announce that Gary Waring has been selected as the station’s new full-time Coxswain.
“Having been on the crew for several years, Gary became a Deputy Coxswain earlier this year and his family is no stranger to the RNLI.”
His dad, Graham, served from 1978 as crewmember, 2nd Coxswain and then Coxswain until he retired in 2010 and became one of the station’s launch authorities. But it doesn’t end there.
Gary’s son Eddie has served as an RNLI beach lifeguard and is also a member of the lifeboat crew, so lifeboating definitely runs in the family.
Gary said: “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Tenby’s full time Coxswain. Tenby and its residents are very proud of both of their lifeboats and I will do my very best to uphold its reputation alongside its established and very capable volunteer crew.”
