A ‘retirement living’ development in Tenby has been recognised at a prestigious national awards event.
McCarthy and Stone’s Paxton Court on White Lion Street in Tenby has been named as a silver award winner for Wales in the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) Awards 2019, along with Birch Court on Sway Road in Swansea.
The EAC is a national charity that assists older people when it comes to meeting their current and anticipated housing and support needs. Now in their eighth year, the EAC awards celebrate the best specialist housing for older people, and aim to help shape the future of housing in later life.
Customers, staff, visitors and volunteers were all able to vote for their favourite scheme out of the 1,220 nominated between November 15, 2018 and February 28, 2019, and with 19,000 votes now cast, the EAC has revealed its regional winners.
Clare Bright, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We’re all thrilled that Paxton Court and Birch Court have beaten-off competition from elsewhere in Wales to receive top accolades at this year’s EAC Awards. This achievement is testament to the commitment of the teams who make it their personal mission to enrich the lives of every individual customer.
“We’re so pleased to hear customers are living their retirement years to the full at both developments and that they are benefiting from the developments’ facilities.
“There are close-knit communities of like-minded retirees at Birch Court and Paxton Court, and the teams work hard to facilitate a packed calendar of social gatherings and events which helps to bring people together.”
McCarthy and Stone develops and manages high-quality retirement communities in central locations, which are close to amenities with level access and good public transport links. Retirement Living developments are designed specifically for the over 60s, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when desired and privacy when needed.
Customers at Paxton Court benefit from stylish and welcoming shared spaces within the respective developments, including a homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with neighbours, and landscaped gardens which are maintained by McCarthy and Stone’s team of experts.
A convenient hotel-style guest suite is available should friends or family wish to stay, and House Managers, oversee the day-to-day running and is available should customers need a helping hand.
John Galvin, EAC’s Chief Executive, explained the importance of the awards: “Specialist housing for older people plays an enormously significant role in helping them stay independent for longer. The security, support and great communities have a positive impact on individuals and reduce the need for NHS services.”
