Calls for residents of Laston Square to be allowed to park vehicles outside their properties have been passed on to Pembrokeshire County Council.
Mr. Leonard Dovey, freeholder of all the Laston properties at Tenby Harbour, wrote to Tenby Town Council on Tuesday asking why "Tenby ratepayers should be deprived of community rights which are the norm in all other cities in the UK."
Mr. Dovey pointed out that Laston Square residents had requested the right to park their vehicles outside their properties for a number of years and requested "a reply without undue delay."
Clr. Mickey Folland informed the meeting that the county council had been looking into the whole question of parking in and around Tenby harbour, along with all the legal implications.
A report "trying to regularise it all" was expected at the authority's next policy and resources committee meeting on April 25.
Deputy Mayor, Clr. Miss Lis James, felt that it needed to be pointed out to Mr. Dovey that the area in question was not the responsibility of the town council and he should address his questions to the county authority.
"This area used to be under the ownership of the old borough council, but was handed over to South Pembrokeshire District Council and subsequently Pembrokeshire during local government reorganisations," commented Clr. Folland. "Mr. Dovey is probably not aware of these internal changes."
"We understand the problems, but the matter needs to be taken up with Pembrokeshire County Council," stressed Clr. Miss James.
