Since opening its doors at the end of September, the new Regency Hall has become the 'hub' of village life in Saundersfoot, and its popularity has succeeded all expectations to date, according to the treasurer of the venue's committee.
"The old hall was always regularly well-used by Saundersfoot Playgroup, Footlights, Saundersfoot Library, and all the village organisations for whom the hall was their home, but our new state of the art Community Centre now buzzes with life, every day of the week," said Sue Boughton-Thomas.
In the three months since the hall re-opened its doors, it has now become a regular venue, not just for its original users alongside the re-vamped state of the art Library, but for an extensive range of educational and recreational classes of all kinds, including Zumba, Yoga. Kettlecise and even Tai-Chi, as well as the weekly Friday Tea-Dance, Tuesday Indoor Market, weekly Dog Training Sessions, Painting, IT, Creative Writing and Sugarcraft lessons.
"Our dedicated Youth Room is now also used for Baby Dance and Rainbows, and in 2014, from the end of July to the end of August, will house a permanent 'Time and Tide' Exhibition and Craft Show," continued Sue.
"The list of users of the hall is increasing weekly, and the popularity of the hall is evident in the number of bookings in hand, well into late 2014, for wedding parties, tribute nights, and private parties of all kinds."
Last Sunday, the senior citizens of Saundersfoot enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Dinner in the Main Hall, with superb catering provided by Ian Eynon, of Maenclochog, and supported by Saundersfoot Community Council and Tenby Lions.
This Sunday, is the inaugural showing of the hall's brand-new Film Club, that being 'The Nativity Story (PG) - Experience the True Meaning of Christmas'.
After a short break over the Chritsmas period to allow everyone involved in the running of the hall to 'catch a breath', on Saturday, January 11, at 2 pm, the first pantomime to take place in the new hall - 'Robin's Red Riding Hood', will be performed by Hawthorn Pantos from Swansea.
The pantomime is a rip-roaring adventure featuring the best of two great tales, and promises to provide an hilarious afternoon to suit all ages.
The hall's own resident amateur dramatics group, Footlights, have their auditions on January 4 and 5 for their first show in the new hall (scheduled for May 2014) and are delighted to stage 'Pirates of Penzance' and welcome anyone interested to attend the interviews
"The committee of the Regency Hall are very grateful to everyone who has supported us in our first thrre months, and wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and fulfilling New Year," added Sue.
