Four members of Tenby and District Swimming Club competed on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff in the Welsh Capital Masters Meet.
In the team events Tenby represented by Kath and Martin James, Jacqueline Brown and Norman Goddard were placed first in the 4 x 50 metre medley relay and second in the 4 x 50 freestyle relay against teams of swimmers from Cardiff, Bridgend, Hereford, Gloucester and Oxford.
Competing in her first masters competition Jacqueline Brown (mine host at the Sun Inn, Tenby) finished first in the 100 metres breaststroke and second in the 50 metre freestyle, 50 metre breaststroke and 100 metre freestyle. Well done Jacqueline and thank you Damien for giving her the day off!
Norman Goddard improved upon two of the three Welsh Records he broke at the Welsh Open Championships earlier this year in Wrexham with wins in the 50, 100 and 200 metres freestyle setting new record times in the 100 and 200 metres freestyle. At the end of the month Norman will be representing Wales and Pembrokeshire at the Great Britain Long Course championships at Crystal Palace. Good luck.
