A CHURCH said to have been founded by St. David himself has come up with a novel way of raising funds for much-needed repairs.
Next month (April 12), some of Wales' finest musicians will take it in turns to play in a 12-hour organathon, at St. David's, Llanddewi Velfrey.
And there's an opportunity to get involved. Volunteers with an hour to spare are needed to complete the line-up.
A special website is being set up to broadcast the event to the world. People will be able to watch the event online, email the site with requests for their favourite tunes, as well as make donations.
"We have persuaded several eminent organists to take part," priest-in-charge at St. David's, Rev. Jonathan Copus said.
"But we need more. And with the help of the public, we hope to hear the widest possible variety of music, from Bach and Beethoven to the Beatles and even Knees Up Mother Brown."
The church is under threat of closure unless £100,000 can be raised.
The team of organists includes hymnologist and broadcaster Hugh Ashley, composer and RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) area secretary Peter Carder, St. David's cathedral organist Alex Mason and former assistant cathedral organist Michael Slaney, MBE.
