The Saundersfoot Probus Club held their regular get-together for a very enjoyable meal at the Gower Hotel, Saundersfoot, on Wednesday, April 29. All the arrangements were in the capable hands of John Parker, last year's president of the club.
The club has found this hotel to be an excellent venue for a large gathering. All members and their wives are looking forward to the annual barbeque to be held on June 24 at 'Greystones,' the home of Valerie and Robert Delpech. Valerie and Robert take great care to set their gardens out to make everybody comfortable as well as offering a great menu.
The Saundersfoot Probus Club continues to provide a forum for retired or semi-retired people from the surrounding districts to discuss topics of mutual interest. Many varied and interesting speeches are given both by visiting speakers, chosen for the specific subject, and by internal speakers who have accumulated a wide experience, much of which contains a large deal of humour.
John Whitaker, who is a member of the club, organises many trips to places of interest, some by coach and others by members' transport. Currently John is organising trips to Aberdulais and Abbey Cwm Hir. Members have enjoyed a variety of trips in the past and look forward to those in hand.
Meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday at 10.30 each month, in a convivial atmosphere at the 'Sports Club,' Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, where there is plenty of car parking.
The club can now be seen on the website http://www.ukprobus">www.ukprobus .org . Their e-mail address is probus.Saundersfoot@live .co.uk . For anyone interested in reading the Probus Newsletter, this can be done on the website.
The club fees are only £10 a year. For this you will find a warm and friendly welcome, coupled with very entertaining and interesting sessions 24 times a year, what better value? For anyone interested in joining the club, just give Ken Phillips (the club's president) a call on 01834 814022 or John Parker (past president) on 01834 891471. They will be pleased to have a friendly chat and provide all information.
