Deputy Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths, has praised recent work which has been carried out to improve and tidy up Tenby's railway station. "South West Wales Community Rail Partnership officer Mark Youngman has done a good job and it's nice to see something being done at last," stated Clr. Griffiths, who also felt that the CCTV system due to be installed at the station would help in maintaining any work carried out there. Clr. Griffiths felt that the introduction of some hanging baskets would also help to spruce up the station. Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown used an example of a recent story that had appeared in the Observer where ladies from the Lamphey and District Women's Institute had helped to improve their local station. "If someone was willing to go down to Tenby's station on a weekly basis and take some pride in maintaining it, as the ladies in Lamphey have done, I'm sure Arriva would help their cause," she said. The town clerk pointed out that Arriva Trains Wales' 'Adopt a Station' scheme, set up by Julian Viggers, station manager for the company, already had someone on board with a view to this idea.
