Police are investigating the discovery of human remains washed up in Amroth at the weekend.

A resident of Templeton who was out walking across Amroth beach and found what looked to be the remains of a human jaw described the discovery as "gruesome" to the Observer.

"We had just walked across the beach, stopping for a refreshment at the New Inn, then walking past the bridge and amongst the debris we found what looks like a man's jaw," explained Martin Johnson, of Melin Mabes, Templeton.

"We reported it to the owner of the pub, and recommended that they let the police know," he continued.

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that they are investigating the find.

"I can confirm that human remains have been found at Amroth this weekend," said Inspector Carl Roach. "Inquiries are ongoing to try and establish who they belong to.

"At the moment we are keeping an open mind," added Insp Roach.
