A vehicle became stuck on the sand on South Beach in Tenby on Sunday, but was rescued thanks to help from a local firm and the police
Initially posting on Facebook, local Sue Dennis said after spotting the situation: “I’m sure he’d appreciate help from a local with a tractor. Be kind we don’t know the circumstance, he just needs help.“

Soon after the person, described as an ‘elderly gentleman’ received the assistance they needed from local Tenby firm Cove Marine Services and one of the Caldey Island boat tractors, who came to the driver’s aid and successfully rescued the car, aided by the local police.
Stephen ‘Teeny’ Lowe of Cove Marine Services shared: “We pulled him out with help of the local police. The owner was an elderly and confused gentleman.

“The police are contacting his family to fetch him. Before people judge, he was actually ex-SAS and had his ID badge with him.”
The incident drew plenty of comments on social media, mostly showing sympathy for the unfortunate driver...
“Maybe he has seen ice cream vans down there and thought it would be safe to take his car there. Let’s not judge too harshly,” remarked one person.

Another stated: “Thank you to the helpers. The world needs many more of those. Less armchair critics.”
One person recalled to the time in recent years when a vehicle became stuck on the pathway around Castle Hill, near to the entrance of Tenby RNLI lifeboat station: “I mean that's not nearly as bad as the tourists that wedged themselves between two walls trying to drive to St Catherine's Island! We all make mistakes glad he's sorted.”
