Thirteen people were arrested in a major drugs operation in South Pembrokeshire at the weekend. A quantity of cocaine, over 900 ecstasy tablets, amphetamine and cannabis resin were seized after police raided 15 premises in and around the Tenby area. Over 50 police officers were involved in the drugs bust, which involved the execution of a number of search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Thirteen people were arrested for a variety of serious drugs offences. One man appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday charged with a number of drug- related offences. The other 12 arrested have been bailed pending further inquiries, including the forensic examination of drugs seized. Superintendent Euros Hughes, head of operational policing within Pembrokeshire, said: "This operation was carefully planned and aimed at a network of users and suppliers in the Tenby area. "Over 50 officers from across the county supported by police dog handlers, port unit officers and staff from other divisions were involved in the early morning police action. "The overall success of this operation means that we have prevented a significant quantity of controlled drugs from entering into circulation across the county." Superintendent Lewis warned that the police in Pembrokeshire would not relent in their efforts to tackle the drugs issue within the county and stated that drugs enforcement would remain a priority within the division. Added Inspector Les Clark, of Tenby police station: "The inquiry following the police operation last weekend is far from over and it is possible that more people will be spoken to in due course. "It is now probable that some drug addicts in the Tenby area and beyond are deprived of their supply. It is in their interests to make urgent contact with health services to obtain appropriate medication and advice. "I have said since arriving in Tenby that I will concentrate on violent crime, the supply of class A drugs and anti-social behaviour. I will not let up in the future."
